What is HOCl?

HOCl is hypochlorous acid: a product created during the electrolysis of salt and water. It is widely used as a disinfectant due to its oxidizing properties and works quickly, even at low concentrations.

What does Watter do?

Watter develops and supplies a system that allows you to produce a disinfectant on-site (in-situ) using only water, salt, and electricity.

What is HOCl effective against?

Watter's HOCl is effective in:

Is Watter's HOCl safe?

Biocides must always be used correctly and in accordance with the instructions for use. The Watter system produces hypochlorous acid (HOCl), which is generated fresh on-site and can be used in low concentrations when applied correctly. Due to the high reactivity of HOCl in solution, the agent breaks down quickly after use, minimizing the formation of residues in many applications. In addition, no personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for the use of Watter's HOCl, and our product is not included on the list of hazardous substances.

Has the HOCl from the Watter system been tested?

The Watter system has been independently tested according to the following EN standards:

  • Bacteria (EN 1276)

  • Yeasts and fungi (EN 1650)

  • Viruses (EN 14476)

  • Surfaces (EN 13697)

  • Areas/Stables (EN 14349)

  • Medical instruments (EN 14561)

  • Water systems (EN 13623)

How is Watter’s HOCl produced?

HOCl is produced via an electrochemical process in which water and salt are converted using electricity.

Because the product is produced in-situ by our machine, disinfectant is always available whenever you need it!

How is Watter’s HOCl perceived by users?

Our customers experience the following benefits:

  • Coolpack experiences not only qualitative and operational gains, but due to improved efficiency, there is also less transport, less waste, and lower CO₂ emissions.

  • At DYKA, transport costs and packaging waste have been eliminated. Furthermore, they no longer use harmful chemicals, resulting in a safer working environment.

By implementing the Watter system, you also contribute to the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

In which sectors is Watter active?

Our product is effectively used in:

  • Industrial applications: Including the food industry, process water, rinsing water, and cooling water.

  • Livestock farming: Including cattle, pig, poultry, and goat farming.

  • Surface and room disinfection.

What are the operational costs of the Watter system?

The operational costs are minimal! Since you produce the disinfectant on-site using only water, salt, and electricity, the costs are approximately €10 per 1,000 liters of disinfectant.
