To get to know the company better, it is sometimes nice to let someone else have a say too. Today it is the turn of our Senior Service Engineer Wim.

Tell us about yourself? Who is Wim, what do you do at Watter and what is your life like outside Watter?

My name is Wim, I am married and have two children. I work as a Senior Service Engineer in the Technical Department. In my spare time, I enjoy cycling. Cycling, mountain biking and I am also a member of a cycling club. I also enjoy doing some odd jobs and gardening in and around the house. I'm always busy, I can't read a book quietly.

How long have you been working here and how did you end up at Watter?

I have been working here for almost 11 years. I started with Arjan, Alfred and Ashley and one microbiologist. So I experienced it from the very beginning. We were definitely pioneering back then. I came from another company where I worked for 25 years. There was a reorganisation going on there and I was able to move to Breda with the company. At that time, I had bought a house with my wife not so long ago and my two children were still going to school. At the time, I chose not to go with them and look for something else nearby. Back then, a colleague of mine had an relative who worked as a Technical Engineer at Watter. This relative retired and this was the opportunity for me to start working at Watter.

How would you describe the colleagues and the vibe at Watter?

We have only been together with all our colleagues in one building for six months. Before, Technical Services was in another building. Of course, I see my immediate colleagues more often. I notice that the colleagues interact well with each other. It's a nice vibe. Towards the end of the year, I experience pressure in Technical Services, but this is always a nice challenge.

Which activities make you happy and give you energy?

Improvements, especially to our system, makes me happy. We already have plans ready where we want to improve the software, where we can generate even more data and do analyses. That kind of thing makes me very happy. It makes the work more interesting and fun.

What is the most fun memory you have made at Watter?

I like to go out externally. That distance in that doesn't matter to me. Sometimes you get to a farmer's yard, other times you are in the middle of a big factory. The satisfaction you see from customers when the system works again is very satisfying.

How do you see the future of water disinfection?

When regulations start to change more and more and we are obliged to become more sustainable, there are great opportunities to expand into multiple sectors. It can still go either way, of course it will not happen automatically and will require patience.
